[Chihaya's video feed starts abruptly. She had pulled out her Pokégear to call for help. She's been sick for a few days, but hiding it well enough that she hasn't had to tell anyone other than Jade and Ami, her traveling partners.

But it's worse. She drops her gear, conveniently starting up her video feed with a screech.]

—Stay away from me! Don't come any closer!

[Even from the camera's stationary position, several mutations are very clear. She has glowing stripes, the pattern not unlike a certain electric type's. Her eyes are also an electric blue as opposed to a normal brown. Electricity cackles on and around her, especially near her hands.

But that's not all. The cave has no shortage of Onix, Zubat, Geodude, and Goldeen. All of them are alarmed by this intruder, much to Chihaya's dismay. Adagio can handle the Goldeen, but the rest of her Pokémon are too weak. The balls on her belt shake, wanting to be let out and help, but she refuses.]

What's happening?! [Her cries are desperate. She's heard some of the news, but not all of it. She's confused, scared, and helpless to these rock type monsters, forcing her to flee farther into the cave, further from the base camp that she left "to go on a walk." She starts to run again, unintentionally zapping down every Zubat that flies too close.] Why?! Someone...

[Her gear. That's right. She runs back over to it. Maybe if she can get back to Jade and Ami or if anyone else is in the cave...right as she picks up, an Onix appears from the darkness, looming over her. As she spins, turning off the gear as she does, her Minun leaps in the way.

It's probably for the best that no one sees what happens next.]

[It's been bugging Chihaya for days. A sound that she heard occasionally while trying to sleep, one that sounded almost like a musical instrument. She hadn't mentioned it to anyone, because she wasn't sure what it was...but as they were nearing Violet City, she finally ventured out of her sleeping bag to try and see what it was. Adagio, her Minun, and Monomi, Hibiki's Monferno (because she doesn't know how to use her Pokégear, she has no idea it belonged to Hibiki, nor does she know it's at level 74) both join her in her quest. She's thankful to be a Parasol Girl for the first time, and she dons her coat and jacket in the thunderstorm. But some things are worth investigating! At some point, she hands her gear to Monomi.

It becomes very clear to Chihaya that the rascally ape knows the gear better than she does. She has no idea that she's being filmed, though, as Adagio fights a wild Kricketot. When his antennae hit against each other, it sounds...like a xylophone.]

Please be careful, but do your best as well!

[She's even getting into it a little! Not that she really approves of battling, but a few Discharges later and the Kricketot is down for the count! Now, all she has to do is catch it...! But how does she do that? She just moves closer, her Minun already curling up for a nap.]

Good work, Adagio. [Did she hurt the bug too much...? She squats, looking down at him. Without warning, the Kricketot springs up and Chihaya yelps and falls backwards. Behind the camera, Monferno lets out a cry. While his new trainer stands back up, he moves in front of the camera and makes frantic "Throw the Pokéball!" gestures.]

B-baseball? [She stifles a laugh, but now's not the time!] Not now, this is...ah! He's getting away!

[What follows is a very painful five minutes of video feed featuring Monomi trying to teach Chihaya to throw a Pokéball, Chihaya eventually understanding, and her eventually slowly chasing him around the small circle. Kricketot doesn't run very far, dizzy from the shocks, but Chihaya misses him with her Pokéball every time. By the end of the feed, she finally manages to hit him with a Pokéball, and he's caught. She manages to stare blankly at it for a moment as Monomi returns to camera work, moving closer to her as her face lights up.]

Monomi, Adagio, did you see it? I finally caught one! What should we name him?

[She's a little sweaty, it's almost three in the morning, there's a thunderstorm, and she's exhausted...but she finally did it! She catches her breath, cradling the now filled Pokéball in her hands, before something else catches her attention.]

Let's show everyone in the morning...Monomi, why is that light blinking? Is it broken?

[With an innocent sound, the Monferno shuts off the feed. To anyone on the Route, they might just find her wandering back to her sleeping bag, looking unusually pleased with herself. A musical Pokémon...! She can't believe her luck!]

Personality:
Chihaya is focused on one thing in life...singing. She has a wonderful singing voice, and her one goal is to have her music heard by everyone. She refuses to let go of this dream, even when discouraged or when problems occur. In fact, Chihaya is quoted to have said music is all she has left. Singing and music is so important to her, that without that goal she would have had nothing left. She goes so far as to refuse eating sweets to keep her throat in top singing condition, and instead of socializing with others she shuts herself away to sing and exercise.

While she always loved singing, when she was a child, her brother was killed in a traffic accident. Her parents argued non-stop, and she shut herself off from the world, even going so far as living alone in an apartment. Thanks to all of the fighting, she stopped socializing, stopped interacting with others. For the longest time, she had a bitter view of people, and it still shows from time to time. She joined choir to improve her voice, but made no friends, and focused only on getting better. Now, she’s often seen as “cool and silent,” though some people consider her to be “heartless” instead. She lives a lonely, modest life where most of her kitchen utensils aren’t even unwrapped, despite living in her apartment for more than a year. Even some of her boxes haven’t been unpacked--only the things she uses are out, including a picture of her brother.

Joining 765 Pro idol studios changed her, however, even if she didn't intend it to. She decided her best chance to become a successful singer was to become an idol, but doing so required her to interact with others. Slowly, she’s been able to show compassion again, and she’s beginning to grow used to socializing again. It’s a slow process, though. She still doesn’t smile often, and she gripes when there’s non-singing work to be done...but when she’s told to, she pulls through with the support of her new friends. In fact, when three idols (Haruka, Yukiho, and Makoto) get to sing at a festival, Chihaya is stuck working the sound equipment and stares on with envy.

Thanks to working as an idol, she’s also becoming more forceful and helpful. Already seen by some as heartless and cold for how she rarely speaks and how harsh she can be, she now speaks her mind more often, and encourages others to work hard with her. She’s not the kind of person to say “Everything will be fine!”, but she is the kind who will say “Let’s keep practicing until the situation changes so that we’re ready.” While initially only friendly with two other idols (Haruka and Azusa, who is more like an older sister figure), she begins to take charge more often, her experience and patience also helping to hold the group together. The group listens to her instead of seeing her as a loner type, and while she was always included, Chihaya has been able to make her voice stand out with everyone else’s instead of shutting others out and sitting in the background.

After one performance where Miki did two heavy dance routines in a row, Chihaya also shows that she has a strong comraderie with her fellow idols after all this time. Though brief, an encouraging show of support takes place. Though prideful, for the first time, Chihaya is shown truly supporting someone and being proud of someone.

Chihaya: You were amazing, Miki. Now it’s my turn.

The singer then proceeds to walk past a breathless, tired Miki and keep the crowd going.

Despite her heavy love for singing and her slowly opening up to others again, Chihaya Kisaragi has her own fair share of character quirks. Though no one else knows it, she is extremely fond of Kabuki and Greek Architecture. She is also a huge fan of vanilla ice cream, ignoring her no-sweets rule for it. She has a complex about her bust size as well, being flat-chested. Being the kind of person who rarely complains, though, these rarely come up unless you read her facial expressions. One of her biggest weaknesses is puns. She rarely smiles or laughs, but lame jokes make her crack up. In that aspect, she’s still very childish. She also has a strong fondness for dogs. As she lives alone, she is very self-reliant, relying on herself only to take care of the chores. Surprisingly, though, she can’t cook. After appearing on a cooking show, though, she has started trying to improve in that area. She also is terrible with computers. In the first episode, she thinks a bigger iPod has more memory and doesn’t understand that memory isn’t always about size.

All-in-all, though, Chihaya is that girl who won’t talk or open up to people. It takes a lot of work to get to know her. She always sits by herself. She speaks calmly, quietly, and coldly, and she rarely refers to someone by their first name. She is often lost in thought, choosing to internalize things rather than sharing them with others, still. She wants to keep everyone at a distance, it seems. However, talking to her can be very difficult. If you greet her the wrong way or get in her way, her tension can rise and she will lose her focus or snap or just not do her best job. She doesn’t show it, but she still does care for others in her own way. If she cares for someone, she will help them however she can. Whether it’s walking home with someone or helping them with their training, she’s not completely heartless. She's so used to closing herself off and pushing others away, but she's on the verge of change. Only time will tell how much Chihaya Kisaragi will open up.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Excellent singer. Really, one of the best. There's nothing she wants more than to sing, and her voice is amazing from years of practice.
+Devoted to her goals. Nothing will get in her way of singing. From her diet to her jobs, she has her goal in mind at all times.
+Independent. Chihaya is used to living alone, and can take care of herself quite well (except when it comes to cooking, which she's trying to improve on).
+Physically strong. Being an idol requires stamina, coordination, and the ability to move quickly. Chihaya is no slouch of a dancer, even if she'd rather sing.
+Learns quickly. Lyrics and dance choreography aren't as easy as they look, especially if you're going on stage.
-Socially Distant. Well not as closed off as she used to be, she still has a long way to go. She doesn't talk much to people she doesn't know well.
-Easily flustered. Whether it's puns or something not going her way, it's not too difficult to rile her up and embarrass her.
-Can come across as uncaring. Due to years of not having friends/pushing others away, she can come across as blunt or cold. Her friends know her better than that, though.
-Bad with electronics. How do I iPod?
-Stubborn. If she doesn't want to do something, she'll say so. She'll usually come around in the end, but there are times when she puts her foot down.

First Person Sample:
[Chihaya doesn’t mean to turn on her Pokégear. It just happens. The viewers are treated to a clear view of someone with blue hair who looks very bored, pressing buttons slowly and in no particular order. She’s never held a device like this before, let alone use one. It’s after a few more presses that the machine starts to speak back to her, loud enough for everyone to hear. Her eyes widen in surprise, and she holds it away from her.]

Exposure to electricity from Minun and Plusle promotes blood circulation and relaxes muscles.

[She finally speaks, bewildered.]

Minun? Plusle? [She looks to the side as her Minun drapes himself on her arm, yawning.] There are supposed to be two of you, right? Where did the other one go?

[Her partner shakes his head, almost shrugging in response, before closing his eyes. Chihaya looks down at the device.]

So, this one is negatively charged...? Is that how it works? [That stings, a little. What’s going on?] I don’t understand, Minun. What am I supposed to do with you?

[Still not moving from her seat, she presses a few more buttons. Eventually, she clicks off the feed, completely unaware that she’s doing so.]

Third Person Sample:

She could have gone out for ice cream, couldn’t she? That’s what Ami, Haruka, Makoto, and Iori decided to do.

Yet, here she was, kicking off her shoes and setting down her bags. The Goldenrod Inn’s room had become familiar to her, more familiar than she would have liked. This wasn’t home, she reminded herself as she sat on her bed, reaching under her pillow for her CD player instinctively. Her nights were the same. Without being able to sing, save for the few occasions where she sang to herself, she would listen to the same songs over and over. It was only the reminder she had right now of home, of her goal, of her past.

Her goal, to stand at the top of the singing world. Just when it had become obtainable, it was taken away from her. She hated Johto for that. She wondered, at times, if she was the only one. Azusa seemed to enjoy herself. Haruka tried to include her, Yayoi was pleased with all of her friends that she’d made. Was she the only one that was unhappy?

The others would be back soon. Already, the words from songs she used to sing back home soothed her. There were always days like this, days where she wanted nothing more than to leave.

♫I shall fly, Towards my distant dreams, Because without these wings, I just cannot live on ♪

How true were those words, sometimes. Her dreams, more distant than ever, made life unbearable at times. Holding her CD player with one hand, she moved over to her shopping bag, planning to unpack before anyone made it back to their room. A few new items for her Pokémon were easily stored in her cabinet, and a new scarf made its home in the closet. Haruka had said the scarf looked good on her, and...

She paused, holding it in her hands. She had been shopping everywhere today. There were days like that, too. Days where she was able to spend time with her friends, get to know them better. That wasn’t bad. That was normal, it was...for the best sometimes. For as much as she hated Johto, there were good things about it, too.

Without wasting another moment, she stored the scarf in her closet. Maybe, if she hurried, she could still catch up.
